5 1/4" x 4" on a very thin laid paper with a watermark

and have been looking at

this makes me want to build an alter and light candles in front of it for sure

visualizing a whole collection arranged across a few shelves

Folk Art Watercolor of Houses on Hill hand-embroidered sleeve Both are of the sameI was quite surprised and delighted to find this one when rummaging through a box of odds and ends at a not especially fine shop about 30 minutes from home the other day, but wonders never cease! It is a small one, but definitely an early one, c. 1820s 30s I believe, and I'd bet painted of a village not far from here. Great color, iconic New England, and based on how it was trimmed I'm sure it once lived in a miniature type frame with round opening,
